BAHA'I SHRINE//OTTAWA ARTS EVENT AT IEF

LE SANCTUAIRE BAHÁ'Í À MONTRÉAL OUVRE À NOUVEAU SES PORTES - Montreal, QC, le 10 septembre 2007 (SCNB):

Lors d'une joyeuse rencontre, qui a eu lieu le samedi 8 septembre 2007, et à laquelle participaient une cinquantaine d'invités, l'Assemblée spirituelle nationale du Canada a réouvert le Sanctuaire bahá'í à Montréal. Un lieu sacré aux yeux des bahá'ís, en raison de son association avec la visite de 'Abdu'l-Bahá, le chef de la Foi, à Montréal en 1912, cette maison a récemment été restaurée. 'Abdu'l-Bahá a parlé de cette maison en disant qu'elle était son deuxième chez-soi, et Shoghi Effendi, qui lui a succédé en tant que dirigeant de la foi bahá'í, après son décès en 1921, l'a nommée un Sanctuaire bahá'í au Canada. Le Sanctuaire était la maison de la famille de William Sutherland Maxwell et de May Maxwell, deux importants citoyens de Montréal pendant la première moitié du vingtième siècle, qui étaient de plus des personnages importants de la communauté mondiale bahá'íe. William Sutherland Maxwell était un des plus importants architectes canadiens pendant les premières décennies du vingtième siècle et il est l'auteur de bon nombre d'édifices importants de cette période.

BAHÁ'Í SHRINE IN MONTREAL RE-OPENED - Montreal, QC, 10 September 2007 (CBNS):

At a joyous gathering of more than 50 invited guests, the National Spiritual Assembly of Canada re-opened the Bahá'í Shrine in Montreal on Saturday, September 8, 2007. Sacred to the Bahá'ís because of its association with the visit to Montreal in 1912 of the Head of the Faith, 'Abdu'l-Bahá, the home has recently been restored to its original condition. 'Abdu'l-Bahá referred to the home as his "second home" and Shoghi Effendi, the Head of the Bahá'í Faith following 'Abdu'l-Bahá's passing in 1921, named the home the foremost Bahá'í Shrine in Canada. The Shrine was the family home of William Sutherland Maxwell and May Maxwell, prominent residents of Montreal in the first half of the 20th century and leading figures in the worldwide Bahá'í community. William Sutherland Maxwell was one of Canada's foremost architects in the first few decades of the 20th century, designing many of Canada's notable buildingsduring that period.

UN SPECTACLE PUBLIC, ORGANISÉ PAR LE FORUM INTERNATIONAL DE L'ENVIRONNEMENT, AURA LIEU À OTTAWA - Ottawa, ON, le 7 septembre 2007 (SCNB):

Les organisateurs de la onzième conférence annuelle du Forum international de l'environnement, qui aura lieu dans la capitale nationale, et dont le thème sera Répondre au changement climatique: Réalités scientifiques et impératifs spirituels, ont récemment annoncé la tenue d'une activité complémentaire prévue pendant la conférence, le samedi soir, 13 octobre 2007. Ce programme artistique, organisé conjointement par la communauté bahá'íe d'Ottawa et Faith and The Common Good Ottawa, prendra la forme d'une célébration interconfessionnelle sur l'environnement et aura lieu de 19 h 30 à 21 h 00 au Centre communautaire Bronson situé au 211, avenue Bronson, Ottawa, Canada.

OTTAWA PUBLIC ARTS EVENT ANNOUNCED BY THE INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FORUM - Ottawa, ON, 07 September 2007 (CBNS):

The organizers of the International Environment Forum's 11th annual conference on "Responding to Climate Change: Scientific Realities, Spiritual Imperatives" recently announced a complementary event taking place during the conference on Saturday evening, October 13th, 2007, in the nation's capital. Co-organized by the Bahá'í Community of Ottawa and Faith and The Common Good Ottawa, a special artistic program and interfaith celebration on the environment will be held from 7:30 - 9:00 pm at the Bronson Community Centre, 211 Bronson Avenue in Ottawa, Canada.
